Dream.

Nightmare in waking, eyes
open, shaking,
Body, tense and worn,
Sore and torn,

Reaching over to put my
arm around you,
Not there, empty space,
it falls right through,

Grasp the floor, don't
want to wake,
Eyes closed, pretend
its' fake,

Back to the dream, away
from this,
No need to scream, for
ignorance bliss,

Your face is there, laying
without a care,
Wrapped, entwined, still
that perfect pair,

Reality sets in soon, but not
just yet,
Take the time, away from it
all,
To lay with you and forget,
No distance, no wall,
Nothing against which to
fret,

Eyes shut tight, against
reality's bite,
Release and surrender
now,
But back again, not long,
somehow...
